About Lauren Sovereign

Lauren Sovereign is well traveled on earthly and astral realms, bringing a musical journey of global electro folkloric rhythms to raise vibrations and ground in evolutionary consciousness. Her DJ sets are shaped from formative time spent in Durham, Nicaragua and Brooklyn, weaving rhythms that impart the feeling of home and belonging within a global community, creating pleasure, catharsis and unity on the dance floor. As an OG matriarchal DJ, her medicine is to nurture the vibe with her soundtrack for the new earth. With 24 years of DJing across the globe, including running the NYC global Ecstatic Dance chapter, she has consistently elevated and sharpened her craft. Beginning in Durham in the early aughts, she cut her teeth on everything from clubs, radio mix shows, mixtapes, to DJ battles. She also pulls from her training as a sound healer certified by Tom Kenyon and Brennan Healing Science practitioner, founded by NASA physicist Barbara Brennan. Lauren Sovereign is a multi hyphenate artist, musician and healer. Her music, art and everything she touches serve as signposts to our true, infinite nature, encouraging the release of maladaptive colonial societal tradition for sovereignty along with synergy in sacred community.

Movement Lab

Dynamic Vinyasa Flow and Yin flows with Heather Miller

This lab will combine vinyasa flow using traditional asanas while using the breath to flow from one pose to the next, as well as dynamic movement through the major joints. We will utilize sun salutations, warrior variations, twists and joint mobility, static shaking and strengthening and pranayama techniques throughout this short lab. Then we will slow down our movements and engage and lengthen through targeted muscle groups and fascia by using Yin yoga techniques. Yin uses your breath and engaging targeted structures within the body, and opening through those structures with longer holds within poses. Vinyasa and yin combined can be a great compliment to any rigorous practice of body movement. When we increase our lengthen and flexibility, we can gain strength with ease.

Please bring water and a yoga mat to enjoy a small session of invigorating and slow movements to bring yourself back to self.
