October 22 : DJ Hunter the Gatherer (he/him)

How did you get into DJing?

I got into DJing when I hosted an ecstatic dance in college. At that time I made pre-recorded mixes. Then I wanted to share my craft publicly so I started to play at friends’ parties, and then it evolved into public dances.

How do your sets at Beat Church differ from other sets you play around town?

My sets for Beat Church are unique because I have a certain level of freedom of expression where I would normally shy away from certain lyrics or energies of music. I am able to bring a different style to the Asheville dance scene at Beat Church.

What do you hope the dancers experience when dancing to one of your Beat Church sets?

My hope and prayer always for the dancers is that they feel – feel the music, feel their bodies, feel the room and everyone else in it. And also that they allow themselves to play and not be so self critical.

COST POST HELENE: During this time (post Helene), we’re doing a “pay what you can” sliding scale for entry, $0-50.
We want to make sure everyone can come dance, no matter what their financial situation is right now.
If you’re in a place where you can pay more, it would mean a lot.
Your extra support will help cover the DJs, tea servers, the space, and also make it possible for those hit hardest by the storm to join us without worrying about the cost.
Let’s come together and make sure everyone can be part of this healing dance!

Send payment via Venmo to Beat Church Asheville.

No refunds or transfers to a different date.

Please note that we do sometimes sell out. Pre-pay or come early to ensure a spot!

October 29 : DJ Osiah

DJ Osiah is a dancer turned DJ, crafting ecstatic dance medicine journeys that break through the limiting ideas as to what “spiritual” is supposed to look like. Join me and move from the mental space to the heart space and beyond. Come, experience God’s secret ratchet side, as I commit random acts of chaotic goodness, and drop dope bangers for nothing less than the ecstatic rebirth of your inner wild child.
NEW TICKETING INFO SOON TO FOLLOW. COME BACK BEFORE THE EVENT TO GET INFO ON HOW TO PRE-REGISTER.
