About servant of dance

Servant of Dance (Nata Das) ensemble that has been in Asheville for the last 12 years. We are musicians who observe, support, and hold space for the connection between dancers and musicians formed during a live dance/music event. One common thread in the music of NataDas at this point is Trey Crispin, the curator and leader of these ensembles for live performance. He has been performing live ecstatic dances for 15 years. NataDas – Servant of Dance – is a group that creates a deep moving tapestry of sound that looks to the movements of dancers as our written music. In our opinion everyone gets farther when we do these things together and not alone. Live music and movement connected are the medicine we bring to our community.

EXPLORING CONNECTION IN MOVEMENT with Alex O’Hearn

October movement lab will be an exploratory space inviting folks into connection with others using eye contact, mirroring, and we’ll even introduce basic lead-follow dynamics utilizing simple touch. In this realm of connection, we will explore individually and discuss collectively themes of energetic sourcing, deep listening, and what energies inspire aliveness.
